Last week the West Virginia Air National Guard hosted a business after hours through the Charleston Area Alliance. The highlight for me was the C5 Galaxy transport plane attached the the unit out of Martinsburg, WV. This one was made in 1970. Amazing to walk through! Capable of lifting 3 A1 Abrams tanks or a mulltitude of other combinations. The local unit of Hercules C-130’s, a black hawk helicopter and much more was on display. It was an honor to attend and the opportunity to personally thank the Air Gaurd for their important role in our US military and for the help they’ve provided us with at home such as transporting people and supplies in national disasters such as Hurricane Katrina. We in WV are proud of our soldiers and give a citizen salute to these honorable men and women.
That’s a big plane!
September 27, 2008Blessings
September 16, 2008I feel like writing about blessings tonight. I guess it’s because I feel so very blessed myself. It also has me reflect on times when I wasn’t feeling blessed. It always amazes me how we internalize problems sometimes and forget to count our blessings. Thanks to my Momma, I always remember to keep smiling and remember that God has a plan for us no matter what our temporary situation may be. Lately we’ve been blessed by awesome weather! I love fall weather. It’s the best for biking and hiking and enjoying nature. I’m still biking at least three to four days a week that ALWAYS makes me smile. Even when the crest of a long brutal hill is so far off in the distance that it can’t be seen. No better feeling than when I’ve crested a hill and the wind begins to race past my face. Back to blessings. I feel so blessed to have Kate, a great job with a fantastic manager. A big blessing I see right now is how I can help a friend in great need. I love all of my friends and would sacrifice my life for any of them. I guess that shows how much I love and respect them. Kate and I had a cookout with new friends Johnny and Emily on Saturday night. Good friends really do make life better! Kudos to Johnny’s cooking. He’s one of those people that doesn’t follow or need recipes and it always comes out great! What Emily lacks in kitchen skills she more than makes up for it in the ability to make others laugh and be comfortable. Oh, another blessing, I received my first paycheck from the new job yesterday….that was a blessing! I’m so looking forward to helping my company grow and become a better business. What’s really gratifying is knowing that there are many ways to contribute to their/our success. Ultimately, a life lead celebrating your blessings is a long life of happiness.
I could write for hours about the blessings i have in my life. I’m just hoping you will take the time to reflect on the blessings in your life.
With love and wishes for peace, happiness and prayers for blessings in your life,
Chip
New beginning
September 8, 2008Well, a new chapter in my life is being written. I started at WeSave today and it went great. Within an hour I had a laptop, so I can make blog posts from the back porch again. The locusts are really worked up this evening. I also received my first blackberry. Met all the people in the office and they all seem to be engaged in the WeSave mission, energetic and just nice people. I then worked with the Marketing Planner to get acquainted with Salesforce.com. It is a customer relationship management website that synchs up with email and blackberry. Being engaged to this extent will be a new experience and I’m looking forward to it. Working in the internet domain is very excitng and this company is already doing well with room for significant growth which I plan on making significant contributions to help it along. Being off work for so long really has me aware of how important work is to me and it is even more important to manage my health and happiness in a way that balanced with work. I really believe that my manager and I are going to get along very well. We’ve already got a pretty good feel for each other. We should, we’ve been meeting for breakfeast,, lunch and coffee for 5 months. He’s a good christian man who at 38 has already had several significant accomplishments in his life coupled with being a devoted husband and father. It’s getting close to my new bedtime of 9:30 so I wish you a good nights sleep and that your tomorrow be filled with moments to be thankful for.
Love and God Bless,
Chip
